Featured Animal Teacher (FAT) for the Month of January 2017 – Cooper

I just finished with Cooper. He walked in with his tail wagging but seemed a bit submissive maybe. He is happy but not overly excited right now. I asked what he did today and he told me he just finished playing with his ball and then he had a good chase with his buddy Shadow. I asked about Boo and he said they were ok but not as close as he and Shadow. Then I asked how he felt and he said he was fine but he wished he could have more exercise. Then I inquired as to the people around him and I saw a youngish boy and girl. I also saw a man but it didn’t feel like a romantic relationship, maybe your brother? He was dressed in casual slacks with a white polo type shirt with colorful stripes. Let me know…..:)

thanks for offering Cooper as FAT.
Just had a short connection with him and got that he is a bit timid / shy. He is easily startled and mildly fearful. He hates loud noise. He is very peaceful and gets along well with people and other animals.
He likes running and chasing a ball.
I think he would love to be a lap dog, which considering his size, I assume is rather difficult 🙂

I never read the other post until i complete mine and it seems i too felt him to be timid and shy. I’ve been trying all day to connect to him. Problem wasn’t him, it was me forgetting to go to my space.
Me: oohh hi cooper! How are you?
Cooper: looking dismayed and trying to understand what was going on and looking around.
Me: are their any children in your home?
Cooper: No but not really focused on me while he answered
Me: is there anything you would like to ask me?
Cooper: what is going on? why are their so many people coming at me?
Me: OOhh those are people who like me are understanding that animals have a voice and opinions too and we are wanting to learn how to communicate with you. They mean you know harm, they just want to talk to you like i’m doing. It will be fun!
Me: where is your favorite place to sleep?
Cooper: shows me a round bed in the olive green or tanish color on top of carpet in the brown/tan family of colors near a table of sorts.
Me: do you have food down all the time or do you get fed at certain times?
Cooper: food always down. answer was visual and sensed
Me: how old are you?
Cooper: 11
Cooper: how old are you?
Me: 46
Me: what does you r yard look like?
Cooper: large yard with white picket type fence. House is brick oranges tan s and browns with covered patio with perhaps 3 supports not screened in. visual answer
i ‘m realizing that the conversation is beginning to get away from me and i m not sure I’ll remember it all so i asked Cooper if i can meet up with him later.
Cooper: still looking round trying to figure out what’s going on.
Me: may i kiss you on the bridge on your nose?
Cooper: obliged me.

I did like Gina. I didn’t read any posts before connecting with Cooper. I only looked at his photo to see how accurately I can receive his message.
The first impression I received from Cooper’s photo was,
“I love to run! Really really fast! But I can be a couch-potato too. I love to snuggle.”
I felt that he likes to chase things (so that he can run fast!), like a ball or frisbee, or may be small animals like cats and squirrels.
Then, I started asking questions.
Me: Where did you come from?
Cooper: I came from one of my mom’s friend.
Me: Do you like children?
Cooper: They are OK. (seems not much interested.)

Then, my mind got destructed, I couldn’t continue our conversation. So, I thanked him for connecting with me, and asked him if I could connect again some other time. He said “sure!”.
I couldn’t feel him timid or shy. I need to practice keeping conversation going.

I felt that Cooper would probably be freaked out by this process, by so many people wanting to connect with him all of a sudden, so I’ve been trying to tell him what is going on. Apparently my message hasn’t gotten through to him. I’ll keep trying. Thank you for explaining it to him.

There are no human children in our home. I did buy him a bed similar to the one you describe before Ginger came to live with us. He never used it. He does only occasionally (it’s right by my bed), but it has become primarily Ginger’s bed. It sits on a wood floor and a light patterned southwest design rug. Cooper prefers the couch(es).

The dogs get fed twice a day, morning and evening. If they don’t eat all the food at those times, it is available to them the rest of the time. Ginger is needing to lose some weight, so I don’t leave additional dry available if they do eat it all.

His age sounds about right. I had lost track of his age, and his former owner misplaced his paperwork, so thank you for that! We live on 17 acres, the only fences are around the horse pasture, wood fence with horse fence and woven wire. The house is a log house, there is a covered porch, not screened, with two logs supporting it. He stands under it when it’s raining.

He’s such a sweetie. Glad he let you kiss his nose. Very good, Gina. Feel free to connect with him again. Hopefully he’ll start getting used to people dropping by. 🙂

Hi Patty,
I asked Cooper if it is ok to talk to him and he said I’m new to this. I got an initial feeling of timid calmness. He likes to look around. I asked if there is anything he wants to tell you and he replied I love my mom and she loves me too. So cute! :o) I’m trying to communicate without looking at anyone else’s interactions. He seems very willing but cautious. Thanks for letting us talk to him Patty. What a sweetie! I just want to pet him he looks so soft!

What a sweet interaction between you two! This is all very new to him, and hopefully he’ll start to get used to it soon. He is a timid boy, you must have caught him at a calm moment. He does have those, but is easily excited. When he’s awake, he’s always very aware of everything going on around him. How sweet that he wants me to know he loves me. That really touches my heart. Thank you for talking to him.

Hi Patty, thank you for your feedback for my first connection with Cooper.
I tried again today and asked him if there was anything he wanted to show me.
He brought me by the window, and let me see outside through the window.
Do you have snow there? I saw nothing much but snow outside.
He said he is not afraid of snow, but he doesn’t like to run or walk on the snow because it makes him feel clumsy. lol

I guess the snow was an old news. lol
As for the boots, he didn’t like that sticky feeling on his feet, It feels like a wet leave sticking your hand and you can’t shake it off. But when I told him that would keep his feet warm and dry when walking on the snow or icy road.
He thought about for a moment, he might give it a try, but just seemed not a big fan of the sticky feeling on his feet.

I showed him the boots in my mind, and saw him wearing them, but immediately I got an image of him shaking his legs trying to shake them off.
Then I told him what those boots were for (with images in my head). There was a pause, so I thought he was thinking about it, but still seeing the image of shaking his legs.
I am very new at this, so I’m still not sure if I’m really getting accurate information or just my mind making them up…. Hopefully I can communicate more to find something verifiable. 🙂 Thank you.

I haven’t posted or even been doing any A/C for a couple years really. But decided its time to jump back in. I connected with Cooper briefly. I saw his big
loving heart and his sweet gentle demeanor. I explained who I was, in a ‘class’ with his mom and trying to get back into talking with the animals. He accepted that alright. He told me he would help me. :-). I asked him to show me where
he lived and he showed me property, big fields to run in. He said he likes to run and have a good ‘romp’ but that he does tire out more easily now. He also loves to lounge in the house. He said his main purpose is to take care of you. As you will learn in this course, that can mean anything. Doesn’t have to mean he is out front protecting you from everything.
At any rate, I began getting nervous at that point, I lose my focus and don’t know what to say next, so I just explained that to him and that I would talk to him again another time. He seemed fine with that.
And like the others, I did not read any of the communications until after I did mine.
He seems like a wonderful guy.

Hi Patty and Cooper!
ok i visited him again.
I started asking Cooper to show me some things that i could verify with you to help me along my path here of AC
He showed me a brown mare horse i sensed was a friend.
He showed me a long hair tri colored cat medium to small and full grown but young that he is friends with
And he showed me a white SUV type vehicle
Also expressed to me that he s much happier to be with you than his previous owner. I got the sense their was not much of a bond there.

Hmmmm.. I wonder if the communication can get jumbled up since I saw Tri colored cat and dark brown horse? Fascinating

I tried to connect with Cooper, who apparently is a very gentle, docile, a laid back dog. However, when I asked him how is he doing he quickly answered me, being very present like he was waiting for some interaction. As I saw so many of us from the club tried to speak with him, I asked if he is bothered by that and he said he is enjoying helping human to learn to communicate with animals, that he has plenty of time during the day when Patty is not home to do something. He is enjoying his time outdoors and his walks, loves sunbathing, loves Patty very much. He understands that this period Patty is quite busy so being in contact with people is something different which keeps him occupied. I have asked him if he has any other company in the house and I’ve got the answer – a cat which whom he is in good relationship. Although he has this appearance of being a calm dog, he has a goofy side which I’ve noticed when talking with me.

I connected with Cooper again.
A few times, I got destructed and retried again and again, but he was very patient with me.
At first, I saw blue color (sort of indigo blue). I’m not sure if this has anything to do with Cooper.

Then, I asked him the same question I asked before, “do you have anything you like to show me?”, and I saw rain hitting the window, and outside looked blurry. Did you have rain recently? Cooper must like showing me the weather..? lol
Next, I asked him if he has any favorite toy or toys. I had a hard time getting the answer, but saw him holding something like a stuffed animal. (Later I read your post mentioning about him not really having any toy. So, my ego mind was trying to help me on this one for sure.)
I saw him running in your house when he got excited, but his brake is not fast enough… lol I don’t know how to describe it, but he kind of bump into things.
I think that’s all I could receive (hopefully accurately). I know he was telling me more, so I apologizing him for not receiving clearly and told him I am very grateful for his willingness to help.

I can totally picture him doing that without trying to be funny! And he is very sweet.
I’d love to rebuild the muscle of this ability also. At least we know we can!
