Have you ever heard the term ‘Soul Contract?’

If there’s someone (or multiple someones) in your life who you always find yourself doing things for at the last minute, even though they don’t do things for you, because you’re worried about pleasing them or disappointing them or losing them, here’s what might be going on:

You could actually have what’s known as a “negative soul contract” with this person.

Until you clear that, you will never be free and empowered to make better choices and decisions for yourself and get unentangled from a seriously dysfunctional – even toxic – relationship.

So, what is a negative soul contract?

And how exactly does that work to muck up your relationships through what’s often referred to as codependency (or it’s nasty cousins also known as addiction and depression)?

To understand this properly you need to understand the bigger picture overview of…

Your Soul’s Journey, Reincarnation, and the Role of Soul Contracts.

First, we are spiritual beings having human experiences.

Your soul is eternal. It’s the energetic essence of your being.

You are wearing a physical suit which you put on when you were born, and you take off when you’re done with it and transition back to your soul essence.

Next, understand that we incarnate to explore being in a physical form for a wide variety of reasons.

A simple example are folks who love food. They could be choosing to explore the sensations of taste, smell, texture, flavor, and so on, none of which is available to them in Soul Spirit energy form. They have to incarnate to taste and chew and swallow and digest and… you get the picture.

Now let’s consider soul contracts and how all that fits together.

Our souls travel in what’s known as a ‘soul circle’, which is a community of souls banded together like soulmates to explore these lifetimes together.

Yes, you can have many soulmates, some of them are disguised as animals which is why animals feel so close to our hearts…

And yes, codependence can show up with animal relationships too. (I teach about this in the Barometers of Our Souls course, exploring the mysteries of the human animal bodymind connection).

We have agreements (contracts) with each other as to what we intend to learn or help teach each other in a lifetime.

The best soul contracts are to our highest best good, for all concerned. They can have a single purpose (to do ONE thing for each other) or a lifetime purpose of growing, evolving, and healing together.

For our gourmand (foodie) example, one soul agrees to become a chef this time around.

Another chooses to be the person happily consuming their food but their role here could be as the restaurant owner hiring the chef, or a family member who they cook for every day, or restaurant goer, or food blogger.

Okay, so in our various lifetimes, we trade roles.

Seems pretty good so far, so how can that go badly, and what does this have to do with dysfunctional toxic relationships and codependence?

Well, maybe this time around we are exploring martyrdom, victimhood, power plays, abuse, or manipulation. You choose to play the martyr or victim, and someone else plays the abuser or manipulator.

And that’s fair because in our last lifetime, we chose the role of the abuser, and they played the victim… and so on.

You get the idea.

We keep going until we graduate the lesson and fulfill our soul contract. It dissolves, and we choose something new to work on next.

Simply put, soul contracts are any binding agreements, promises, oaths, or vows that you entered into, like marriage or partnership, a business, a purchase, familial oaths made by someone in your family, religious vows (like a vow of poverty, silence, or a vow of chastity… that kind of thing).

Like a promise you made in the heat of the moment, like “I’ll always look out for you, love you, protect you, keep you safe” as a protector, parent to a child, sibling, guardian, or lover.

But in the next lifetime, you traded roles and can’t do that “role” anymore even though you still feel compelled or obligated… it no longer makes sense.

Or when, in the heat of the moment (or even in jest) you said, “I swear _____ (fill in the blank)” …

Be careful. Words have power, that’s why it’s called “spelling”.

Or maybe you made a promise to “make something right so help me God”, but you were unable to do so for reasons beyond your control or ability.

And if that time came and went lifetimes ago but you’re still bound by your promise even though it’s not helpful or wanted anymore at this point…?

That’s not good.

Negative soul contracts are when a life contract with someone went sideways, didn’t process completely so it was marked “incomplete and still owed…”.

Negative soul contracts weigh on our SOUL, because an outstanding energy tie, or “soul debt” binds us together and forces us into behavior patterns we feel powerless to resist or change.

Negative soul contracts can also come into effect when we were coerced or blackmailed or tricked into agreeing to something when we were powerless or helpless or thought that we had no other options or choices at the time…

These things don’t just dissolve on their own or when we transition.

We “swear” or agree or sign them (or someone does on our behalf like an authority figure over us) then they are connected to us vibrationally….

They continue until we actively rescind, transform, and renounce them from our soul in the right way.

So, someone who you’re struggling with may still “feel” that you owe them for an unfulfilled agreement. They are likely not consciously aware of it, and yet, the pattern continues.

That can show up like someone stealing from you, betraying you, undermining you, sabotaging you.

They may lash out at you unexpectedly, blind side you for no known conscious reason.

What if your great great grandpappy swore a family oath to revenge a wrong as the patriarch of the family/tribe/clan, then guess what? You’re also bound by that familial contract… (remember the infamous feuding families known as the Hatfields and the McCoys?)

You feel obligated to come when someone calls, do their bidding whatever and whenever they say, your needs are unimportant, you’re powerless to do anything different.

Perhaps you were an indentured servant or slave to them in a former life…

Or you’re still trying to earn their love or respect from lifetimes ago…

Often the contract isn’t so much about a single person as it is a universal promise or agreement. Like swearing fealty to a government (think Queen or King or other authority figure).

Or becoming a member of a religious or cult organization or secret society.

Contracts continue until they are removed, or a time limit and expiration date were clearly included in them.

Fascinating, isn’t it?

These soul contracts aren’t released by just saying “I don’t wanna do that anymore,” or “oops, my bad, what do I owe you”, or “how can I make this go away?”

And nobody else can release them for you, you have to do it yourself, from your SOUL, once you know how. Like, I can’t forgive your mother for you, you have to do that yourself.

Because from your soul’s perspective, the contract must be completed one way or another.

It’s time to learn a new lesson and clear the old to make way for new contracts that are in better alignment with the highest levels of love and light, to your best interests and for all concerned.

It’s time to recall your power.

The question becomes… How do you do that exactly?

It can be helpful to identify the root cause of the problem, where it came from. Talk therapy can help, reading about it can be interesting, but I find it takes a long time to sort things out while nothing much changes.

And if you don’t clear it the right way, then even if you do manage to change something in your relationship it’s like stretching a bungee cord – it takes a lot of effort and it can snap back into place because you’re still tied together (or it can start showing up with other people in your life as a repeating karmic pattern).

I’m happy to tell you there’s a faster, better way to transform this and it doesn’t require tapping (EFT), talking about it for years in therapy or with the person you’re entangled with (who sometimes won’t even talk to you about it), reading countless books on the subject, doing drugs, or distracting yourself with addictive, self-destructive behaviors.

To clear it completely, like we do when we clear old karma, we have to work from the soul level from the Twelfth Dimension.

When we do that, everything changes in a minute, maybe two…

Literally.

Because these things drain your vitality and soul, which is partly why you have felt powerless to change, depressed, confused…

And so the first thing to turn this around is repair your soul, revitalize your spirit, and take your power back.

Next, from your soul I guide you to find and clear the negative soul contracts draining your vitality.

And then? We simply rescind and transform them energetically.

That’s right. Everything is energy, and all energy can be transformed.

All contracts can be rescinded, amended, broken, or renegotiated, no penalties or interest apply when it’s a soul contract. It’s either active, in force, or it’s null and void.

And no, you don’t need anyone else’s permission to do so. You don’t have to fulfill an agreement if it’s no longer in alignment with your highest best good.

That’s a universal truth.

If there’s old karma attached, then that has to be dealt with too in a similar way.

In no time at all, you’ll feel healthier – happy and clear. Pesky things like illnesses or chronic pains you’ve been struggling with will start to disappear.

Your relationships become loving and supportive.

The person you’ve been tied to in a codependent relationship changes too.

They either heal and evolve along with you because the negative soul contract is now complete and they can move on, ready to do something more positive with their life…

Or they leave your life because they aren’t ready to heal and evolve yet. Which is also a good thing.

It’s like you’ve been in a tug of war game (your relationship), pulling against each other on the rope (the contract), and when you simply drop the rope and stop playing (rescind the contract)?

The game ends. Done. Contract complete.

They can either stand there holding the rope wondering what just happened, or they can look around to find someone else to play with, or they can drop it and go do something more productive with their life.
