Patty has volunteered to host her cat Shadow as our next Featured Animal Teacher (FAT). I am sure you will enjoy getting to know this wonderful animal teacher.

Gold members will have an opportunity to connect with Shadow along with Val on the next Q&A call Saturday, January 13. I encourage all of you to connect with Ginger now and through the month.

Tune into Shadow first and see what you sense. It’s not just about getting words although that’s a lot of fun when it happens. Remember that telepathic comes from ‘tele’ meaning over a distance like telephone and television, and ‘pathic’ that comes from pathos. So literally telepathic is emotion over a distance.

How does Shadow feel to you? Happy? Sad? Excited? etc.

Ask Shadow ice breaker questions as you might with any new teacher. It’s not about “getting the right answer” but about connecting with a wonderful animal.

      Have fun!

Many thanks to Patty for offering to host Shadow as our featured animal teacher for this month. We look forward to Patty and Shadow sharing feedback, information and stories along our journey.

What kind of food do you like hard or soft or both? He likes a little hard mixed with the soft.
How old are you ? 6
Where did you come from? was born on the property, part of a litter
Got the sense that he’s a back ground kind of cat. Not all up in your lap but hangs back and observes.
      Jungle like it nature.
Did you go outside today? No i saw snow.
how does your body feel? Strong, agile. Pleased with where he is
what s your fav thing to do? Stretch out in a sunbeam and bask

Hi Gina, They get fed canned food in the morning, the rest of the day & night they have free-choice dry food to munch on. He’s around 8 years old. I got him from a friend who had a litter that had been born at her farm. He may have been too young to remember that since I got him when he was pretty small. I wouldn’t call him a background kind of guy. I’ve had to try to teach him to back off from being in the middle of everything. He picks on one of the other cats, I think he likes to see and hear her responses. He’s an indoor boy, no outside for him. If he saw snow it was from a window, the little bit that’s left. He is strong, agile when he wants to be. He does love his sunshine in the mornings on my bed. He’s very good at stretching out, and loves sleeping on his back.

        Thanks for connecting with him.

Gina, I went and looked at the calendar after I posted my response last night because I wasn’t sure of Shadow’s exact age. I have him on the calendar at 7 years old, not 8.

      Hi Patty,
I just connected with Shadow. Essence: He is playful and busy but really enjoys his relaxation time on your bed in the sun. (I first thought he likes to cuddle but now not so sure)
I asked Shadow to give me a tour of your home. In front of house there is a brown door. Open it and there is a brown carpeted living room with wood stove. He enjoys the wood stove. He loves the warmth. Kitchen is close by and has a linoleum floor with blue and grey squares. Down the hall are three bedrooms and his favorite is yours.
His litter box is in the bathroom. He gets bored and that is why he picks on other kitty. He likes playing with round ball that has a jingle sound.(????). He would like another toy.
Ok….I am very new at this but these were my first impressions before the doubts came flowing in. Hopefully I got one thing correct.
      -Barb Grout 😊
He was very patient with me. Thank You Shadow.❤️

Hi Barbara, Shadow does love his sunny spot on my bed. He is learning to be a cuddle-bug. It’s taken a while, as he always loved to bite and attack while he was growing up. When he would bite or attack, I would tell him no and just get up and leave. Gradually, he’s learned that pets and cuddles are more enjoyable. The brown you saw in our house is most likely wood. It’s a log home and with the exception of a multicolored carpet in the great room and 2nd bedroom, the floors are all wood.

Shadow does like the wood stove, although there’s not a lot of room for him to enjoy being in front of it as I keep the hearth stacked with wood, and one of the other kitties has claimed a spot on the floor in front of it. The kitchen is close by, and has a wood parquet floor. The house has 2 bedrooms, one off the kitchen, and the master is upstairs, which is mine, yes his favorite. His litterbox is in the basement. He gets quite a rise out of Boo when he picks on her, and Scooter gives as good as he gets, so that’s likely why he picks on her the most.

There is a round ball connected to one of his toys that he plays with from time to time. I just brought them home some new toys to roll around on the floor, and they’ve been having fun with them. Also a new cat tree recently that they’re still investigating.

For being new at this, you did quite well! I wish I could do as well! Thank you for connecting with him. 🙂

      Hello Patty,
This is so helpful because my 1st thought was 2 bedrooms and then the kitchen: first I saw squares and then my mind made up the color😊. This is really helping me to trust those first “impressions”.
I actually got a no to the litter box in the bathroom but then I asked utility room and also got a no….
(Ha ha). I could have asked where else, so this is helping me to be more detailed with questions.
      THANKYOU!
Do you have a step or two leading to your front door?

Barbara, There is one step up to the deck leading into what I use as the front door.

Your feedback on your thought process is also helpful to me in learning to trust what I get when I do manage to get stuff! Thank you for sharing that!

      Hi Patty,
I am so glad my thought processes are helpful. I got the feeling there was more Shadow wanted to tell me.
Tonight he said Boo doesn’t like to share and that’s really why he attacks her not because he is bored. Her not sharing aggravates him. I asked him if he would like to talk about it with her and he seemed to like the idea of a group conference with all three 😊 to discuss issues.(I’m not sure I have the skills to do that but someone in the group may????)
      And……
Is there any way the wood can be stacked so that more than one cat can enjoy the wood stove? This last sentence is my thought.

Barbara, What does he want Boo to share? He’s twice her size and has always kind of bullied her since he got bigger than her. They all have their own food bowls in the morning for the canned food, and she gives me the impression she’s afraid of him because he is so big. A 3-way call would be great if it can happen. I would love to see them all get along better. Right now they all seem to do their own thing. I think Boo would have done better as an only kitty.

As for stacking the wood — I have some stacked to one side of the wood stove and put some in front for additional drying. The hearth really isn’t big enough for Shadow to lay on when it’s going anyway as he would get hot pretty quickly with the fan going. He’s a pretty large kitty. He seems to be doing ok on top of the couch or in the chair, a couple of his other spots. He does claim Scooter’s spot at times when it’s available. Like right now. He’s in front of the stove, so they kind of rotate. 🙂

Maybe you need Margaret to help you crop your photo so it will load on this page, lol.

I do try to give them all equal love. You should see us in the evenings in the living room when we all congregate to relax. I have one dog on either side of me on the couch, computer on my lap until I finish what I’m doing, then the kitties take turns on my lap unless Boo gets there first, then she stays unless I have to put her down to get up to do something. Shadow has started getting on my lap ever since my healing session with Val a couple weeks ago (another validation, Val!) , but he barely fits, he’s so big, usually something is hanging off my lap onto one of the dogs. 🙂 When I try to rearrange him to make him fit, he usually gets down. He’s the only one that gets loved on in the mornings when he’s on my bed. We have a short cuddle session before I start to get ready for my day. How I wish I could hear what they’re telling me!!

I think a conference is a wonderful idea. How can we make that happen?

      Hi Patty,
During this morning’s call, I visualized Shadow and pressed the “play” button. I “saw” him moving gracefully like a panther, with tail up high and the tip curled. He was in high places, including the counter tops, but actually everywhere. He knows every corner of the house and likes to peer out from hiding places. He is confident, observant, a deep thinker, loving, gentle. I am partial to black cats and just want to stroke his sleek body. I “saw” the color green emanating from his aura. He is a gorgeous cat.

        Hi Patricia,

It’s pretty much “his” house as far as the other cats and the dogs are concerned. 🙂 He’s definitely in charge, but he does it in a playful, mischevious way. They have a new cat tree, and after the class today I found him up on one of the high perches. They’re gradually moving into it. What I learned about him today really showed me who he is. No counter tops, though, unless he does it while I’m not looking. Thanks so much for connecting with him. 🙂

How sweet! He really is getting to be quite a love bug. It’s taken a while, but it’s sure worth it! How cool that you see your Tiger! Have you connected with him in spirit? I’ve attached a picture of the front of the house as I was staining it a couple years ago for the “before and after” effect. 🙂

      Hi Patty,
This is the second time I connected w/ Shadow.
First time was during the Group Forum conf call this past Saturday.
I sensed that Shadow was like a protector of the house.
He showed me how he walks around the house to make sure everything is ok.
He walked slowly, but purposefully taking note of the situation around the house.
Do you give him canned tuna or tuna flavored wet cat food? He likes that.
He likes other animals, but seemed more like a referee(?) and enjoys watching them rather than actively interacting with them.
Do you have a porch by any chance? He says he likes the fresh air and view from the porch, but likes the comfort of being indoors just as much if not more.
Do you have a wall in your home that is of color purple or something similar? It looked like a living room or a family room. One wall was a lighter color and the other was purplish.
I asked him if he’d like me to relay any messages to you and he said “thank her for taking such good care of me. I’d also like more canned tuna (or tuna flavored wet food).”

        Hi Lydia,

He’s pretty much “in charge” of the other fur-kids in the house in his mind. I sometimes have to referee, especially between him and Boo. She’s half his size and he likes to pick on her. He will sit on the steps at night as we’re going to bed and make sure everyone that goes past him “has the password”, as I call it. He has to be in the middle of everything that’s going on. He’s quite interactive.

They get canned food for breakfast, I try to give them a variety, but am somewhat limited to food that doesn’t have wheat gluten in it, as he is gluten intolerant. I do give them tuna with whitefish. I’m glad to know he likes that, I’ll try to get more of that for him.

There is a deck on the house, front and back. He only gets fresh air when the weather is warm and I can open windows, but he is always able to see outside from a variety of perches. He never asks to go outside, he’s been an indoor boy ever since I brought him home when he was a kitten.

All of the walls in our house are wood. I can see if the light was just right on one of them, they may have looked purple-ish.

I appreciate his sweet message. He’s getting to be much more affectionate than he has been up till now. And thank you for connecting with him and sharing. 🙂

While connecting with Shadow during the Q&A call, I have received the following: Shadow said ‘I try to be good and won’t do naughty things but I ambored sometimes and just can’t help it.’ Shadow has a deep insight. He is playful, likes to run around, patient, high energy. Is he 2 or 4 years old? He says ‘I love to watch things within my home’. He likes to follow around. I asked him how he is feelig today and he said ‘bored’.

        Hi Manuela,

I can see when I have to “referee” him at times, he knows he’s done something he knows I don’t want him to do, but I really think he can’t help himself at times; circumstances are just too tempting for him. He is around 7 years young. All of the qualities you describe about him are correct. He loves to be in the middle of whatever’s going on when he’s not napping. Even when he is, he’s still very alert and conscious of everything that’s going on. That’s the job of a “supervisor”, after all, isn’t it? 🙂 Great job talking to him! Thank you! I’ve gained much more insight to my mini-panther this last week. 🙂

      Hello Patty,
Thank you for letting us communicate with Shadow. I’m new to this group and first time connecting with FAT.

Let me know if anything I sensed feel like on the right track or not. I didn’t read other’s comments so I don’t come with preconceived notion and unfortunately I could not get on the call, so apologize if I am repeating questions.

Is he around 5-6 years old? Spiritually felt like he was 4 but sensed he is a bit older in physical body. Does he like to play with little feather like toy that is connected to a string and bat it with paw? Do you have another cat at home that he play with? Do you have a bird? When I connected with him, my left cheek area started get really stiff. Did he injure his face at some time or something bothering him around that area of face? He is very loving cat but didn’t feel like he is a cuddly type? Does he eat dry kibbles?

      Thanks!

        Hi Chigusa,

I got Shadow when he was just a tiny baby about 7 years ago. I hung up a toy for him on a string to play with and bat around, but it’s not a feather. I have another kitty who’s the feather fiend, and he and Shadow do sort of play together. I don’t have a bird. We have lots of wild birds this time of year since I feed them. His face and under his mouth do break out when his allergy flares up. He is gluten intolerant, so I try to stay away from food with gluten in it. I’ve noticed lately that quite a few canned foods are putting carageenan in them, and I’m wondering if he might not be allergic to that also, as he’s been mildly broken out for a while and it’s been slow to heal. I’ve been putting lavender water on it to help healing. He and the other kitties have free-choice kibble 24/7. He’s getting more affectionate as he gets older, and does try to cuddle from time to time. He’s a large kitty, and doesn’t really fit on my lap without hanging off.

I’m so glad you made a connection with him. 🙂

Hi Patty, First I wanted to tune into Shadow’s personality. Right away I got that he is stealthy. He likes to be in high places so he can observe ‘goings on’ from a higher perspective. He can be a bit ornery at times with the other furry babes in your house – chasing and pouncing on your other cats. As I remember mentioning on the Saturday call, he has a Big energy field. He is very much content in your home. He likes to make you laugh.
I find it so interesting that you have drawn into your life 3 black cats! I believe these animals are working together in concert to help you deepen into the mysteries of your unconscious self. Shadow would like you to practice Being One with Him. Merging with him you can draw strength from him and he is willing to share his power with you.
His body enjoys soaking up the sun streaming through the windows. His black fur holds the heat in him. He can be quite the ‘furnace’ when he lays next to you. tee hee
As I was focusing on becoming one with him, my attention was being drawn to his right ear. I actually felt an achiness in my own right ear. When I asked him about it hurting him I sensed that yes sometime is does. He has a very loving heart. He is a Guide. When I asked him what his purpose is for being in your life, he told me to show her she can be strong and grounded at the same time as being lighthearted. He has the ability and desire to help you stay in balance. I asked if he would like to come around you and be close to you when you do your meditation? He said yes he would like to help in this way.
He likes his food, he is a good eater.
That’s all I have to share for now. Hugs, Pam
Now I will go and read the above posts. 🙂

Pam, Pammie, Pammie Jean, Pamela.... you can call me any of these names.

        Hi Pam,

Glad you had time to connect with Shadow with all that you have going on. You are so right in all that you sensed about him! I am unaware that he has an issue with his ear. He has never given me any indication of it, unless that might be part of what flares up with his allergy.

I tend to choose black fur companions when they are available, as they have a harder time getting adopted overall due to people still being superstitious.

He does love to eat! I wish he wouldn’t eat quite so much, but he’s always loved his food! He is usually on the bed with me when I meditate before I go to sleep at night, or in the dog’s bed beside my bed. I also found it interesting that he’s the one I’ve been drawn to become one with and get the two-way communication going. Guess I’m picking up more than I realize, but that really is a subconscious thing.

You probably picked the answers to the rest of your observations from the other posts, so I won’t repeat here. If there’s anything I didn’t address, please let me know.

Thanks so much for connecting with him and sharing! I’m so proud of you and how well you’re doing!! I wanna be you when I grow up!! 🙂

The last time I connected with Shadow he said to “chill”. He will work it out with Boo.
      That’s his guidance to me.
      Thank You Shadow.

I hope he does. He does seem to enjoy picking on her. I think she would stand up to him a bit more if he weren’t so much bigger than she is. She tries sometimes, and I encourage her when she does. I would really like it if all of them got along better. Thanks for checking in again, Barbara. 🙂
